The revolution that is reconfiguring the construction market revolves around theenergy technology and focuses on the energy issue, not only photovoltaic, but more generally renewable energy, energy efficiency, plant engineering growth. This is the photograph at the end of 2013 as represented by Cresme (Center for Economic, Sociological and Market Research) in the midst of an unprecedented crisis for a leading sector for decades.
Between 2007 and 2012 the construction market, net of investments in renewable energy sources, it lost 45 billion euros. We are talking about a 30% loss compared to the peak of the market reached in 2007. And the difficulties seem to never end: if 2010 and 2011 represented the acceptance of a new order of magnitude for construction market, reduced and reconfigured, but with signs that seem to suggest the end of the recessive wave, 2012 and 2013 are instead years of a new serious critical phase.
Apparently only the restructuring and new markets ofenergy technology they keep the buildings standing. So the new construction market which is taking shape at the end of 2013 appears to be strongly characterized by a reduction in value, quantity and opportunities, but also by a substantial reconfiguration in its composition between the various production segments.
However, according to Cresme, one can also grow in the crisis. And today in the construction market those who are able to work abroad, to interpret the new emerging market segments, to seize the recovery market by offering new offer models, to improve product and sector productivity, who better than others know how to grasp the new dynamics of market demand and needs, especially today in terms of energy efficiency.
Then there are the new materials and the plant engineering sector which increases its importance around theenergy technology and energy efficiency in general. According to the survey conducted in 2013 by Domotecnica (it was also discussed in recent days at the Energy Summit of Sole24Ore) about 2.6 million families will carry out interventions forenergy efficiency within the next 12 months, and about 1 in 5 families plan to make between 5 and 10 thousand euros available for this purpose. From the statements of the interviewees it is also clear that 70% of the gas boilers installed are still traditional, and that 1 in 3 families feel little or not at all informed about the opportunities available.
